Pegasus I-70 Service
Colorado’s bus service, Bustang, offers a shuttle van called Pegasus that goes in between Denver and Avon along I-70 with various stops in between, including Frisco and Vail. It runs 7 days a week and the schedule can be found here: https://ridebustang.com/pegasus-shuttle-van/
Snowstang Bus Service
Bustang also offers weekend service directly to select ski areas. These leave Union Station and will drop you off directly at selected ski areas (currently Copper Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland Ski Area, and Breckenridge). Full details have not been released for 2025 so please check this website for more information: https://ridebustang.com/snowstang-mountain-service/
Driving to the mountains:
If you rent a car and choose to drive into the mountains along I-70 please keep the following in mind.
- Colorado does have traction laws for vehicles traveling on I-70 September 1 to May 31. Details on the traction law can be accessed here: https://www.codot.gov/travel/winter-driving/tractionlaw
- Traffic can be very heavy on the weekends. If driving up on Saturday/Sunday morning, best advice is to leave Denver before 5:30 am or after 10:00 am. The Weekend Travel Forecast on Go I-70 (https://goi70.com/travel/) is usually pretty accurate in my experience. It also has weather related forecasts. Midweek travel is usually not bad so it would be better to plan on avoiding the weekend traffic if you can.
