Re: [IUG] Millennium won't load

Make sure all can read\write to C:\Millennium and sub folders
Check your jarcache folder - I had 10,000 files on one PC in my jarcache
folder! There should be about 40 or 41 files in the jarcache folder.
Clear jarcache
REBOOT
Log in again and let the jarcache rebuild

I tried uninstalling and re-installing, too. Clearing the jarcache and
rebooting before logging in again did the trick for us

Millennium 2009b 1.3
WindowsXP
We had failure to finish launching Millennium at different jar files,
too.

IT staff usually have very few restrictions on their network accounts,
as I do, so I always test with the most restricted CIRC account, average
user, on a regularly used CIRC desk PC

Read/write access to C:\Millennium is huge because you may have network
policies preventing you from saving/writing to C:\, which is what
Millennium needs to do.

We had a horrible problem with this before we switched to a hosted
server, but ours was caused by network issues here on campus. Best
server swap ever. No more problems.

Ruth-

Interesting that you should mention this. If you find out what your
"local issue" is, please let me know as this started happening about two
weeks ago with a laptop that we have the Millennium client installed on.
Exact same symptoms.

Subject: [IUG] Millennium won't load

Hello all-

We are having an issue with a few computers within our consortium not
loading Millennium. We are a multi-library consortium, and the
computers in question are physically located in different institutions a
number of miles apart. Innovative contends that this is a "local issue"
and it probably

is.
I am looking for help so that I can direct the various IT Departments at
those locations on what to do to resolve the issue.

The symptoms:

Millennium starts to install, username/passwords are entered, the
software begins to load the .jar files then stops (freezes) but not
always at the same .jar

Symptoms started suddenly

Details:

We are on Release 2009B 1.4

There have been no systems changes to the server

Two of the computers are running Windows 7 and the others are on XP

They have uninstalled and reinstalled the Millennium environment to be
sure they are on the latest JRE 160_02.exe

Their IT has verified that Port 2000 is open, and that the Skinny fixup
is not an issue

Their IT has the CSDirect "Troubleshooting" information

One of the IT guys even took a laptop home to run this off-network
(although he did download the software from inside his network), same
results.
Millennium started to open, but froze.

I am hoping the collective wisdom of the IUG can provide a fix as those
computers have now been relegated to using Telnet, not exactly the
solution we want.

TIA

Ruth
