Re: [IUG] Checkin busying records instead of releasing them from patron record

Hello
Maybe you are having problems with your scanner. Does it happen when you
type the barcodes in also? I think it is your laser misfiring. Is it only
happening in one spot.

Subject: [IUG] Checkin busying records instead of releasing them from patron
record

Hello

Our checkin mode fails sporadically.

We start in Checkin mode and scan an item barcode, Mil returns an ItemOK
sound and lists the item along with the patron name and prints a checkin
receipt just as it would if the item was checked in.

However, upon Searching the item by barcode, we find that the item record,
patron record and bib record are left in the busy state.
After we Free the Records, and Search the item by barcode we find that the
item record still has the original due date and is still attached to the
patron record.

I know this sounds impossible however I have witnessed it myself.
Once the station starts misfunctioning, it misfunctions on every item we
checkin.
I stopped the Mil session and restarted it and then checkin worked fine.

The problem is that we do not know what causes the session to start doing
this.
As a result, we must search each and every item after we check it in.

We are forced to do this because we have had a greater number of patrons
reporting that they are getting overdue notices from items they have already
returned - and we find their items on the shelves.

We have reported this to Help Desk and we are investigating but so far there
has been no resolve.

Has anyone else had this problem?
We are on 2009B 1.4

Thanks,
