[IUG] Valid wild card searches in the WebPac
[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
I received the following note from a staff member:
I was putting an exercise together and wanted to use the "?" wildcard for this book:
The men and women we want
Last month, using wildcards worked fine in locating the book, doing a basic title search: M?n and Wom?n We Want.
Now, if I drop-down to a title search and use M?n and Wom?n We Want, the search engine looks at M.N and can't find the book.
If I do a basic keyword search with "M?n AND Wom?n We Want" in quotations, the system finds nothing.
If I leave out M?N and do a keywork search, for "and Wom?n We Want", the search engine finds the book.
Is there a new rule about using the question mark wildcard in the first word in a title or keyword phrase search?
While looking through the Millennium manual, I found Basic Search Syntax Page # 101242. I can't find that a question mark is a valid wildcard?
Any thoughts?
