Re: [IUG] Patron self-registration temporary barcode and OverDrive

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
Good afternoon! We were able to use these temporary "self registration"
barcodes with OverDrive.

However, our library policy changed (we decided that OverDrive patrons
had to be full card holders) and we had to ask OverDrive to accept only
14 digit barcodes so that the temporary barcodes wouldn't be permitted
access.

I hope this helps you!

Kind regards and have a SUPER day! Eeva

We are getting close to going live with ebooks from OverDrive (using
the Patron API) and are wondering whether it would be possible to allow,
as an incentive, the ability to download ebooks using the temporary
barcode assigned when patrons self-register for a library card.
Obviously this would only be for a short period of time until the
permanent card is issued. I'm suspecting that this would not be
possible, but would appreciate any comments, workarounds, or other ideas
to be had.

Thank you.
