[IUG] Using 'Advanced' in Create List

I have a list of 897 partial item record numbers from certain Patron Holds
where the checkdigit is missing, I need to extract the Full item record. I
am trying to use the Advanced feature in Create List to load a regular
expression but am not getting results.

So far what I have tried is:

ITEM Record Number = ('searchstring1^'|'searchstring2^'|...|'
searchstring897^')

Thoughts?
