Hello colleagues- I'm interested in hearing how other III libraries
purge their databases of patron records for delinquent patrons who
have outstanding materials. Even more specifically, I'm interested to
hear how libraries that contract with Unique Management collection
agency handle this. How long do you keep delinquent accounts, how
much in fines/materials are you willing to forgive, how do you prevent
repeat offenders from re-applying after a purge, etc. I'd be happy to
get responses off-list if this is not a topic most libraries have to
worry about!
Thanks,
David Plunkett

I would also be interested in the responses to this question, although
we do not use Unique. Thanks.

We just started purging, I would like more details on how other
libraries do it as we will start this year. We hold records back 7
years, but we can only try to collect for 3. If I am correct, we run a
list in millennium for Unique then they delete the customers from their
accounts.
Please keep me in the loop on this one. Thanks
