Re: [IUG] Experience with Hosted Millennium?

Hi,

I would echo Maurine's comments on good reliability. We only had one time in 11 months of hosting that was a fair amount of time, but that was in early October when there was that massive denial of service interruption internationally, so it was more than just those servers. They did sent out email updates while it was being worked on, which was nice.

The migration itself was a pretty smooth process and though I would plan on the system being unavailable all day (and they tell you that), ours took about 4 hours and that was with 2.5 million bibs and more than 8 million items for 27 libraries. The only issue we had was in properly configuring the internal and external IP addresses for WAM and which goes in which table and while it took a couple of days to resolve, they continued to work on it until we got the right combination.

Feel free to contact me with other questions.

Dianne

We made this move a year ago January. We've been very happy with it. We've had occasional (no more than a three or four) unexplained losses of service, but nothing that's lasted more than a few minutes. The longest probably was this past Wednesday night. Since it was past 10pm, we didn't even notice the problem right away, but once we did notice and report it, III had it fixed within 15 minutes.

Let me know if you want more information.

Hello, everyone -

We're discussing a possible migration from Stand-alone to Hosted Millennium. We're a turnkey site. If you've moved in that direction and would care to share your experience, please reply. We're particularly interested in service availability and reliability issues, but any other experience you have to share would be valuable.

Thanks very much,
