Re: [IUG] FTP access issue via Dreamweaver

Interesting.

On our system I have always had the "Use Secure FTP (SFTP)" box checked.

It will not connect without it.

We have a software only system in case that is significant.

Hi Suzie,

I've had this issue before too.

The advice I received from III was:

SFTP or Secure Transfer cannot be used with Dreamweaver, WS-FTP, or other
ftp client program for use with the Millennium liveftp/staging accounts.
These accounts are only configured to work with iiiftp/pureftp on port
1021. But just to reassure you about IIIFTP, you can limit access to this
service via the Limit Network Access table.

In your Dreamweaver site definition make sure SFTP and Passive FTP are not
checked. Manual page #107050 indicates passive FTP is ok, but I couldn't
get it to work.
Check port 1021 is open between your workstation and the Millennium server
(that was the cause of my issue)
Check your IP address is in the Limit Network Access table (See manual
#101731)
Get III to check your system settings relating to FTP (this fixed an
outbound FTP issue for us)

Hope that helps. I just use Web Master in Millennium now!

Cheers,
Suzy

To the FTP guru?s on this list:

Since our library?s catalog server migration to a hosted service by iii,
we
have been unable to establish FTP connection using Dreamweaver.

I?ve been working with iii tech support on this issue for weeks, and we?re
stumped so I?d thought I?d throw this issue out on this list to see if
someone else has experienced this problem and what their fix was.

In Dreamweaver, based on the site definition, I can connect all the way up
to the point where I reach the iii server. Where it fails is when trying
to gain access to the directories. I get an error message saying
?Toggling the ?Use Passive FTP? checkbox may help you establish a
connection.? Because our server is now offsite I was told that we have to
set up Transfer mode to Passive, but I?ve tried toggling, with same
results. I?ve also tried every other possible combination I can think of
in setting up the site definition, but I still can?t get a Directory
listing.

We set up the exact same entries in FileZilla?s site manager, and in
FileZilla I?m able to connect and get a directory listing just fine. Also,
just to rule out that the problem wasn?t restricted to only my machine, I
tried establishing FTP connection via Dreamweaver on a colleagues machine
and got the same results. Here?s what the FTP log results look like in
Dreamweaver:

Using port 1021

< 220-=(<*>)=-.:. (( Welcome to PureFTPd 1.0.11 )) .:.-=(<*>)=-

< 230 OK. Current restricted directory is /

And here?s successful connection results with the same settings in

Can anyone provide insight into this problem? Please contact me if you
have a solution.

Thank you!
