[IUG] FTP access issue via Dreamweaver

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
To the FTP guru’s on this list:

Since our library’s catalog server migration to a hosted service by iii, we
have been unable to establish FTP connection using Dreamweaver.

I’ve been working with iii tech support on this issue for weeks, and we’re
stumped so I’d thought I’d throw this issue out on this list to see if
someone else has experienced this problem and what their fix was.

In Dreamweaver, based on the site definition, I can connect all the way up
to the point where I reach the iii server. Where it fails is when trying
to gain access to the directories. I get an error message saying
“Toggling the ‘Use Passive FTP’ checkbox may help you establish a
connection.” Because our server is now offsite I was told that we have to
set up Transfer mode to Passive, but I’ve tried toggling, with same
results. I’ve also tried every other possible combination I can think of
in setting up the site definition, but I still can’t get a Directory
listing.

We set up the exact same entries in FileZilla’s site manager, and in
FileZilla I’m able to connect and get a directory listing just fine. Also,
just to rule out that the problem wasn’t restricted to only my machine, I
tried establishing FTP connection via Dreamweaver on a colleagues machine
and got the same results. Here’s what the FTP log results look like in
Dreamweaver:

Using port 1021

< 220-=(<*>)=-.:. (( Welcome to PureFTPd 1.0.11 )) .:.-=(<*>)=-

< 220-You are user number 1 of 3 allowed

< 220-Local time is now 11:47 and the load is 0.00. Server port: 1021.

< 220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity.

> USER liveftp

< 331 User liveftp OK. Password required

> PASS

< 230-User liveftp has group access to: iii

< 230 OK. Current restricted directory is /

> PWD

< 257 "/" is your current location

> PWD

< 257 "/" is your current location

And here’s successful connection results with the same settings in
FileZilla:
