Hi, Lisa.
Usually we use the same field tags for the same MARC fields but not always. For example when the 440 MARC tag became obsolete and become the 490_1/830 combo, we decided to change the field tag on the 490 to a "y" instead of an "s" (as long as both fields were identical). I didn't see the point of having identical fields displaying twice or coming up twice in a title search.
