Re: [IUG] PINs and privacy

We ask for College ID number and verify against their name.
We never ask for PIN. If they're having difficulties setting one, we help them understand what
the requirements for them are -- and that's about to change here to bring us consistent with
recent College password standards.

Subject: [IUG] PINs and privacy
With our current system if a patron call for information about their
account we ask them what their PIN is and check it against their record.
For privacy reasons if they don't know their PIN we will not give account
information over the phone.
With Millennium the PIN is encrypted. How do other libraries handle account
questions over the phone if there's no way to confirm the caller's identity?
Thanks
