*Resource-Sharing Specialist:* responsible for day-to-day operation of
Occidental College Library’s interlibrary lending and document delivery
programs. Performs complex bibliographic searching to identify and locate
materials needed by students and faculty; communicates routinely with
vendors and lending partners; verifies invoices and payments; monitors
copyright compliance ; maintains, gathers and submits statistics and
reports. Hires, trains, and supervises student assistants. As a team member
in a cross-trained environment, participates in other Library activities as
needed. Requires Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of library
experience or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates
strong knowledge of and experience with relevant library services,
practices, and technologies in an academic library setting. Must possess
excellent bibliographic searching skills and a working knowledge of OCLC and
related systems; supervisory experience with student employees, the ability
to work well with students, faculty, and staff, strong organizational
skills, the ability to learn numerous workflows and policies, and superior
oral and written English-language communication skills.**

*Resource Acquisition and Purchasing Specialist*: responsible in the
Occidental College Library and in Information Resources (IR) Operations for
the day-to-day purchasing of library materials, technology, and other items
needed in IR. Primary tasks include ordering, receiving, and processing
invoices for books, standing orders, computer hardware, and electronic
resources. Works with Business Office and other constituencies across the
campus and with IR staff to fulfill job requirements in a highly
collaborative and team-oriented environment. Requires Bachelor’s degree and
a minimum of two years of library or purchasing experience or a combination
of education and experience that demonstrates strong knowledge of and
experience with relevant library services, higher education purchasing
practices, and technologies in an academic library or departmental setting;
familiarity with or ability to learn materials purchasing and processing
functions using library and other systems; proficiency with productivity
software and data gathering, and the ability to organize and execute
projects, write reports, and keep statistical records. Must be able to work
effectively within standardized and ad hoc workflows and to learn and apply
detailed policies and data standards; must possess good oral and written
English-language communication skills for working with staff and with
vendors.
