Hi,
I've used Excel to create a tab-delimited version of our SCAT table. I
created one column for each SCAT field, then merged the columns with ASAP
Utilities. I find that being able to copy, paste, drag and drop in Excel
make editing the table entries much faster. I also used a few formulas to
check for errors and overlap/gaps in numeric ranges.
The end result is a Notepad file full of lines that look like the example
below (start letter|start number|stop letter|stop
number|category|description):
DS|798.92|DS|799.999|475|DS798.92-799.9 Taiwan
I used an AutoIt script to delete the entire SCAT table and create a new one
using the Notepad file. It is very fast.
I reiterate Joe's advice to be aware of the impact on statistics--we learned
this the hard way!
This method worked very well for us, but there may be an easier way.
Perhaps a script to attend to individual edits, rather than the entire
table?
