One thing you have to deal with is providing a way for mobile users to go to the regular website and not getting redirected back to the mobile site each time. I don't know whether the detectmobilebrowsers.mobi code handles this.

Yes, we use a code from http://detectmobilebrowsers.mobi/ . It calls in
code that is continually updated on the source site. It has worked well
for us for our mobile library website. We use a paid mobile product for
our catalog and they use their own code to detect mobile devices.
