Re: [IUG] load table trouble

Titus,

There should not be a pipe in the middle of your literal string in element 12 -- I see my email client just inserted one for some reason (not sure why).

Element 12 should just contain exactly the text you wish. See p.31 of the manual.

Hi Titus,

Try this: to add a line to your load table to insert the 590 field :

- Leave element 1 blank
- put 590 in Element 2
- use T in element 3
- make sure element 7 contains the right field group tag (n, probably)
- put your literal string in Element 12

|590 |T|0|0|b|n|0|y|N|0|00|aThis e-book is available to JMU users via the MyiLibrary Patron Select program

You cannot use variable fields in a template; they don't get inserted, as you found out.

After you load your records, you'd have to comment out the line or delete it altogether.

Hope this helps, but let me know if you need/want more information.

Subject: [IUG] load table trouble

Hello Everyone,
I am currently working on a load table and I am running into a jam. The outcome I am hoping for is to be able to load records through the following load profile and add a local note (590) field that says: "This e-book is available to JMU users via the MyiLibrary Patron Select program". I have added the local note to the default record template that this profile uses (myilibbib) but every time a record is loaded the note is lost. I have dived as far into the load profile documentation that I can find but I can't find how to add a field that doesn't already exist in the incoming record. Would anyone out there in IUG land know how to help? Thanks for all of your help and advice in advance.
