Dear Vicki et al:
We used to have ongoing issues with this. First, I disabled the timeout token (which uses javascript) and used good ol' HTML:
<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="600;URL=/" /> just on the logged_in toplogo.
You'll want to ensure you aren't using any absolute URLs as well. They should be relative ("/search/" instead of " http://catalog.chapelhillpubliclibrary.org/search/"). You'll want to look for these in the HTML and the tokens. You could have a random "startover" or "newsrch" token pointing to an absolute URL.
I think those are good places to start.

Subject: [IUG] Logged-in patrons getting bounced off
We're now on 2009B1.2. I'm not sure exactly when this started. It is
*intermittent* and random.
Scenario: A patron logs into their account. They may access various
functions -- look at list of checked out items, renew an item, look at
holds list, or sort a list, etc.. Sometimes this all goes fine. Other
times they apparently randomly get logged off instead of getting the
screen they clicked for (look at holds list, renew, - whatever). There
is no apparent pattern to this. The only way I can seem to guarantee
getting bumped out is to change focus to another window or tab for at
least 8 seconds or so. (The TIMEOUT wwwoption is set to 6000 seconds,
perhaps it's just a focus issue.)
I saw on the listserv where someone else was having a similar problem,
due to their website search box form interfering with the patron form.
They solved their problem by removing the search box from the toplogo file.
I've disabled the search box form from the toplogo_loggedin file and
enabled the TOPLOGO_LOGGEDIN wwwoption in *Staging*. At first, this
seem to help, but now it looks more like the initial 'good behavior' was
just another random event. I also tried disabling the search form for
the whole catalog, but I still get bumped off very occasionally.
Is this happening to other sites? Could this be a communications
issue? Any ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated! -- Vicki
