Tracey,

We use the Opticon OPN 2001. It costs about $100.00. According to the Specs it has 512 KB of FlashROM (about 15,000 barcodes) and 64 kB of RAM. It's tiny - 1.26 x 2.44 x .63 inches and weighs about 1 oz. The battery is rechargeable. I ordered this after someone from another library recommended it and haven't had any problems.

Hope this helps.

Teresa

Subject: [IUG] barcode scanners with internal memory

All,

I am hoping to get details from folks who have recently purchased a
wireless barcode scanner with internal memory for the purpose of
inventory (or whatever else one might do with them). I've read through
the archives and gotten the impression that Metrologic's products are
good, but even armed with model numbers I can't seem to figure out what
the prices are, and whether they really, truly have internal memory. For
example, the MS9535 was mentioned, but the online specs don't make it
clear that it has internal memory. I'm also frustrated by online sellers
who appear to giving prices for "kits" versus individual components,
etc. Obviously, I'm in over my head here.

If anyone can provide me with vendor info, price paid, and potential
pitfalls to avoid (either for Metrologic or any other brand), I would be
very appreciative!

Thanks,

Tracey
