The California State University, San Bernardino Pfau Library invites applications from experienced, creative, and forward-looking librarians to provide leadership in library information technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Systems/Web Services Librarian is a faculty position reporting to the Dean of the Pfau Library and is responsible for coordinating information technology services in support of the library’s mission and strategic plan. This position oversees all aspects of planning, implementing, and maintaining the network and Web servers; digitization; Web-based services and initiatives; and more than 150 computers and peripherals. The Systems/Web Services Librarian supervises a department of three full-time staff employees and several student assistants. The position also is responsible for reference service, instruction, collection development, liaison duties, and engages in the requisite research, creative work, and service to meet the tenure standards of the university.

QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: MLIS or MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; 3-5 years of progressively responsible information technology experience; knowledge of current and developing technologies, standards, and trends in academic libraries; ability to implement innovative services and communicate effectively with patrons, library staff, and faculty; substantial knowledge of network administration, Web programming, and digitization processes; expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic, database-driven Web sites; familiarity with Web 2.0 technologies; in depth subject knowledge or interest in several academic disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED: Experience in academic libraries; supervisory experience; knowledge of the Millennium integrated library system or experience administrating an integrated library system; experience or coursework in reference, library instruction, and collection development; familiarity with at least one Web programming language; experience with CSS, Flash, ColdFusion, UNIX, Windows Server, EZProxy, Active Directory, and SFX; knowledge of institutional repositories.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: This is a 12-month, tenure –track faculty position with CSU Faculty Bargaining Unit 3. The appointment rank is Senior Assistant Librarian in the Automation Services Department of the University Library, a unit in the Academic Affairs Division. The salary range is
$4,755.00-$10,695.00 monthly, depending on qualifications. In order to secure tenure and promotion, the successful candidate must meet expectations in three areas—Professional Assignments, Professional Growth, and University/Community Service—as defined by the Faculty Senate Committee, library faculty and staff, and library and division administration.

THE JOHN M. PFAU LIBRARY consists of a general collection of over 750,000 books, bound periodicals, and other media. The library staff includes 10 librarians and 20 clerical and professional staff in addition to student assistants.
