Re: [IUG] Scopes in webpac and alternatives

If all you want to do is provide SEARCH capabilities for them, we've set up a keyword search page for
just our videos, based on material type (http://library.ccbcmd.edu screens/video4.html) and a
similar page for our e-books using a hidden "input" statement. In your case the input name would probably be
"b" (Check your Advanced search page to be certain) and then your value = on it would be your location code.

Subject: [IUG] Scopes in webpac and alternatives

We want patrons to be able to search for various collections such as
Reference and Easy Reading, etc in our webpac. We have location
codes for Reference and Easy Reading collections.

Is there a way besides scopes or featured lists to do this?

If we use scopes:
None of our bcodes will work for this. iii recommended that we set
up fake bib location codes and link to the item location
codes. There is no way to set up a scope using the real bib location code.

The idea of setting up fake bib locations doesn't sound good to
me. Have any of you done this? What problems did it cause? I'm not
sure that anyone else has ever done something like this.

We currently have one bib location code per campus. Having three or
more fake bib locations per campus will obviously cause confusion in
reports and stats and it will be something else for ACQ and CAT staff
to remember.

Thanks for your help.
