Hello all,
I am a very new systems librarian and I have noticed that we have
occasional spikes of extremely high numbers of log-ins "denied" in the
logs. We have several occasions of about 600 log-in attempts in the
morning and one occasion of thousands each hour all day. They have
always been in our circ group.
Other than those spikes, our log-in logs reflect what I
expect-occasional single denials when people forget to log out and the
other people get denied because the licenses are all in use.
I opened a ticket with the help desk and they have advised me to adjust
my "Limit Network Access Table" which I did. I am hoping that this will
log the IP address of the attempted log-ins and reveal the source.
Have you ever seen numbers like this?
Any ideas of causes or solutions?
Thank you in advance for any thoughts or advice,
Amy
