They don't say it won't work but they prefer us to have updated example set, we have 2006 example set with 2009b on the back end. I am now playing with 2009 b example set on our training server.

FWIW, I've never used an example set.
FWIW#2, I just popped the srchhelp_X.html code from the R2006 Pro
example set into my R2009B1.1 staging port, and the search form
worked just fine.
FWIW#3, every example set back to R2006 WebOPAC has included the
three advanced search form tokens that the 2009 release notes say you
have to have, so I'm not sure why the release notes imply that old
example set files won't work. (From a functional vantage point; I
get it from a support vantage point.)
Advice: see
<http://innovativeusers.org/list/archives/2010/msg02937.html>, then
play in staging with your current srchhelp_X code and R2009B's common.js.
