Over the years, we've used several different products to maintain and protect our PCs.
For a while in the Library we used Fortres to protect the PCs and keep folks from saving files to them;
then the College started using the Centurion Guards and now we're on Deep Freeze. Frankly they all
work fine. Centurion Guard is a combination hardware and software solution that requires hooking into
a floppy cable (or at least did when we last used it); the same company has a software only solution
called Drive Shield that's also cheaper. (They are compatible products.)
The College used to use Ghost to push out images, but is now using Altiris instead.
Our current print management solution is VendPrint and it's primarily in the Libraries, though our licensing
extends to all 3 main campuses. They were simple, could be run off a PC rather than a server and had
good pricing when we were looking. I believe they may have changed their pricing model since we've
become a customer, so I'm not certain how it's currently priced.
Other systems that we looked at included GoPrint and LPTOne. Pharos Uniprint is one that is used by many
folks as well (it required a server, which we weren't able to deal with at the time.)
I'll be glad to answer questions or refer you to folks who can on any of this.

This is off topic. I wonder if any list users would share with me what system you have for print management software (if any), and if you are using any software like Centurion Guard or Ghost to set up/maintain your PC's.
We are investigating these types of software packages.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
