Re: [IUG] r2009b and sound token

These undocumented limiting features are site-specific and are based
on additional 007 or 008 material type limits that Innovative has
configured for your site (see IGR page 106892, all the way down at the
bottom and in a little more detail on 101177). The exact tokens
apparently vary from site-to-site.

Based in part on the material type limits OhioLINK configured on its
catalog, our consortium established quite a number of them back in
2002:

SOUND RECORDING (based on MARC 007)
LABEL VALUE
LP (33 1/3 DISC) "sd b"
CD (COMPACT DISC) "sd f"
AUDIOCASSETTE "ss l"
Token: <!--{sound}-->

VIDEORECORDING (based on MARC 007)
LABEL VALUE
VIDEOCASSETTE "vf"
VIDEODISC/DVD "vd"
Token: <!--{video}-->

COMPUTER FILE (based on MARC 007)
LABEL VALUE
ONLINE RESOURCE "cr"
CD-ROM "co"
MAGNETIC/FLOPPY DISK "cj"
Token: <!--{cfile}-->

LITERARY FORM (based on position 33 of MARC 008)
LABEL VALUE
FICTION "1"
NON-FICTION "0"
Token: <!--form-->

GOVERNMENT PUBLICATION (based on position 28 of MARC 008)
LABEL VALUE
INTERNATIONAL "i"
FEDERAL "f"
STATE "s"
LOCAL "l"
Token: <!--gpub-->

With all that in mind, we stopped using the tokens--yep, ours are
hard-coded--because our user services people felt that the
system-generated value that's selected by default, "any" (which means
not to limit to that material type), was confusing and perhaps
misleading. So maybe our tokens are broken too ... another thing to
look into at some point. :)

Best wishes,

Matt
