Hi Frances,

The line below translates into: Load marc incoming 3XX fields into the Innopac "r DESCRIPT" field; and retain ALL the subfields.
44 > BIBLIOGRAPHIC DESCRIPT(r) 300-399 ALL

Since the new marc 336,337 and 338 fields fall in the range 300-390, they would not be stripped.

The line below translates into: Load incoming marc fields 400-490 into the Innopac "s SERIES" field; always REMOVE the w subfield.
45 > BIBLIOGRAPHIC SERIES(s) 400-490 REM w

So in the line for the 400-490s, the table will always strip out the w subfield.

Just for sake of argument, if there was an incoming marc field coded as a 499, it would be stripped out, since 495 is outside the range specified for your s field (490-490). It could also happen that in our fictitious example, the table has another line for the 499, directing it to load in a different Innopac tag (say, the y tag).

Just read down it all to find the gaps in any the ranges; you may be surprised.

You may have more than one table to examine to see if they all accept the incoming marc fields that you are expecting.

Hope this helps.

Hello all,

| was reading about the RDA update on csdirect and was wondering if anyone
has gone ahead and submitted the two service requests they suggested? Also,
the guide suggested looking at the Load tables and making sure certain MARC
tags are not being stripped. I followed the path M-I-C-M but I cant tell if
something is being stripped. My table looks like this:

43 > BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC(y) 263-265 ALL
44 > BIBLIOGRAPHIC DESCRIPT(r) 300-399 ALL
45 > BIBLIOGRAPHIC SERIES(s) 400-490 REM w

how can you tell if a MARC tag is being stripped?

Any advice/help is appreciated.

thank you,

frances
