Re: [IUG] Inventory question

Try doing a create list and working from that list. As you find the item you can remove it from the list. Sort it by call number and make sure you shelf read each area before starting. You can also export the list to excel and set up your fields there to compare in case you delete an entry and then discover you needed to look at it again or if the sequence is not going correctly for some reason as per how it should be shelved.
We are doing our inventory on a small scale for now until we get the module. This method above seems to work. The trick of course is making sure you have a good high speed laptop that you can cart around with you. It takes two people to do this inventory process; one watching the review file and excel file and the other doing the checking on the shelf. Keep the list of item to be checked reasonable so since we have a variety of small areas to do this process has worked well so far. If we have to do stacks this way we will do it still in ranges of call numbers to keep the process workable.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [IUG] Inventory question
Hello fellow IUGers,
I've been researching a way to handle inventory without purchasing the
inventory control product. I'm wondering if anyone here has any ideas/
hints/experience with this. Please let me know if you can be of help!
Thanks in advance,
Laura Krier
