Thank you for your suggestion.
I didn't mean to write that we would delete the 505 field entirely, but that we wanted avoid having to delete the "t"s in the subfield codes -- very time consuming.

I wouldn't delete the 505 but you could delete the |t from the titles. The chapter titles won't be included in your title index. They would still be accessible through a keyword search if you included the note fields in your keyword index.
