Re: [IUG] title search pulling up chapter titles

Mary,
The best option is to get III to change your indexing rules so that the
505 subfield t is not indexed in your title index - probably a cost to
this as your title index will need rebuilding. Also check to see whether
authors in subfield r of 505 fields are also being indexed in your
author index.
You need to be as sure as you can be that this is really going to
benefit your users - also involve your catalogers in the decision.
The options of removing the 505 fields, or, of removing the subfield
delimiters (|t) in the 505 fields with global update are not good
options.

Subject: [IUG] title search pulling up chapter titles
Dear All,
When doing a title search, in addition to retrieving records of items
that contain the search term in the item's title, Millennium is also
retrieving records that contain the search term ONLY as all or part of a
title chapter listed in a 505 formatted contents notes subfield "t."
Our users find it more confusing than helpful. Is there anyway to
prevent this from happening other than deleting the 505 field from the
record?
Many thanks in advance,
