I've tested, and sure enough it doesn't say "You have X items checked
out," though it does list each item -- so the patron can see all titles
though they do have to count them to see how many there are.
Our R2009A system shows the number in the link on the landing page as
well in the table header on the list of items. FWIW, our patron
interface is the system default.
