Re: [IUG] Home delivery questions

Homebound patrons may receive books in the mail. Patrons are not
restricted by age but must provide a letter from a medical professional
stating they are unable to visit the library. They must have a current
library card and live within the Library District's taxing boundaries.
Items (books, audio books, cds, DVDs, magazines and limited reference
print outs) are mailed to patrons in sturdy canvas bags with return
postage. These items have an extended check out period to allow for
mailing time.
Patrons can place holds online through the web catalog, by email, or by
calling our Homebound Services line and leaving a message. This
department is staffed 19 hours a week.

Subject: [IUG] Home delivery questions

I would like to hear from any libraries that are doing Home Delivery.

How do you make the delivery:
a. A library run courier service?
b. A local courier service?
c. By mail?, UPS?, Fedex?, or ??

Do you place restrictions on who can receive home delivery?

Do you restrict Home Delivery based on distance from the library?

How does the patron return the items?

Any Problems or concerns?

TIA
