[IUG] Moving to a Virtualized Server: Good idea?

We're looking at moving to a Linux virtualized environment very soon. In the past, databases haven't fared too well on virtualized machines. Innovative seems to be running most of their hosted machines virtualized, however.

Anyone out there willing to talk us down before we make the plunge into VM? Anything we should know before we build the thing?
