I have been communicating with III about this issue for months. I am told that a solution is forthcoming, but have been unable to receive specific details. We now have several resources on secure versions that are generating an error message.

Subject: [IUG] Open Library and SSL
Hi Folks,
We've just been testing use of cover art from Open Library.
But ... they don't seem to offer a secure version e.g. https://openlibrary.org/
So this means that IE webopac users will get security warnings for every screen pointing to Open Library covers.
Apart from tweaking IE settings is there another solution to this?
Cheers,
Bruce.
