[IUG] Self-checkout systems

We are building a learning commons adjacent to the library and are thinking of installing a self-checkout system. I know very little about these and was hoping that some of you who are currently using systems would let me know what you purchased, its pros and cons, and did you have to purchase additional products from III. We are still using barcodes, but would we have to move to RFID tags?
