Millennium treats numbers as words. So if you search for "houston in the 19", Mil looks for the "word" 19 rather than the truncated search string "19" and doesn't find a match. Mil recognizes 1, 19 and 120 as legitimate searches in their own right. In a way, that's pretty cool.

Subject: [IUG] Millennium staff and WebOpac search oddity...
I have a book in my catalog with the title:
Houston in the 1920s and 1930s
When I search "Houston in the 1" in either MilCat or our WebOpac (WebPac Pro version, Release 2007), I get a "No matches found; nearby Titles are:" with the title I'm looking for immediately beneath the "Your entry would be here" result line.
This is also the case for the phrases "Houston in the 19", "Houston in the 192".
However, when I search "Houston in the 1920s" or more, I get a single record hit.
What is it about the phrase "Houston in the 1" (or 19 or 192) that is not picking up this title, anyone know? O bviously the title is right there in the search list, so it's not like it can't be found, but this is really a curious situation to me and I wondered if there was an explanation. Thanks in advance if you have the secret!
