Re: [IUG] RSS feeds and WebPAC screens - huh?

Bob - now I understand. It never occurred to me that the webpac page
would be acting like a feed aggregator and obeying the TTL setting. But
that does explain why the raw feed (viewed through IE7) shows new items
first thing in the morning but the WebPAC page might not show those new
items until sometime in the afternoon. Oh, will the mysteries never
cease! - Aimee

Yeah, I got that part. When the WebPAC serves a feed the WebPAC is
functioning like a feed aggregator, and the TTL value in the feed
exists to tell aggregators how long to wait before checking back, in
combination with -- I think -- the lastBuildDate value in the feed.
The WebPAC page that displays the feed is the output of the
aggregator...which has been told by the feed to wait 720 minutes
before checking back. Editing the HTML on the WebPAC page won't have
any immediate effect on what displays since the aggregator is holding
off checking the feed for the TTL period (which is either the minimum
set with the wwwoption, or an explicit value set in the feed's ttl
element).
FWIW, I now see 20 items on the WebPAC page that displays the
contents of your newmusic feed.
