Alma,
I believe that Number of D/Hr 1st F Per is used to determine the maximum fine, at least for the 1st fine period if you use more than one fine period. For example, if Number of D/HR, etc is set for 100 and the amount of fine for your 1st fine period is $0.10, the maximum fine accrued would be $10.00. I assume the same would apply to a 2nd fine period, although we do not use more than 1 fine period here.

It's been a while since we have made changes to our loan rules. So I need to draw your collective wisdom. I am having trouble understanding how the field label: Number of D/HR 1st F Per is used. Every time I think I understand it and then look at an actual fines charged it doesn't seem to match.
This all came about because we had charged our student $.25 per day for hourly reserves that were late; students were just keeping the items out for days. It was changed to $.100 per day in the hopes that items would be returned on time. I do not have accurate information from our circ staff about what happens when the item is returned lets day four days late other than telling me that the student was "charged way too much and I waived the fine".
