Re: [IUG] Patron load question

Sue,
We run lists in Create Lists of patrons who are past the expiration
date and then use Delete Records of Any Type in MillCirc.
Any patron record that has fines owed or current checkouts will not
delete (the system takes care of this) so you shouldn't have to go
through the list by hand.

We basically do the same with patron loads and the expire dates.
But, I haven't been able to figure out how to get a review file in Create
Lists which will only
pull up patron records 1) which are expired and 2) which have no important
transactions
such as fines not paid, books not returned, etc.
When we make the review file, we go through each record and check to see if
it can be deleted, or if we need to keep it because of important
tranactions. It's a very
slow process. If we need to keep the patron record, we remove it from the
review file.
Then we batch delete the review file of patron records which are ok to
delete.
Any advice on Create Lists criteria for this would be very helpful.

Once a year we do a review file based on expiration date and do a delete.
Last time around I did it entirely in Millennium. "Delete Records" in
MilAdmin is the same as "Delete Records of any type" in telnet.

Subject: [IUG] Patron load question
This may be obvious, but I can't find an answer in the IGR or the list
archives.
We've had Millennium for nearly two years. It's becoming apparent that our
patron database is starting to grow due to the persistence of patron
records that should no longer be in the database (students who have
graduated, faculty and staff who have moved on, etc.). I'm trying to
figure out how to remove those patrons from our database as a batch job.
The closest thing I've found is deleting records from a review file.
Any guidance or documentation citation would be welcome.
Thanks,
Randy
