Looks like we have to change our server IP address;
we are running rel2007.
Has anybody changed ip address while running rel2007?
If so, please share your experiences with the group.
For example, did you have to manually change the ip address
in configuration files on individual workstations?
If you used the server's IP address when installing Millennium on workstations
and/or when creating shortcuts, then yes, you'll need to manually change the
address (unless your IT folks have some sort of app to automate the process).
However, if you used the server's hostname when installing Mill and creating
shortcuts, then you shouldn't need to do anything to the workstations.
#3 under "Library's Responsibilities" in the CSDirect document should really
include some sort of "If/then" language to reflect the above---one of the main
reasons for specifying the host instead of the IP address when installing
Millennium is so you can avoid having to hit every workstation when IP
addresses change.
