I've got no thin client experience, but I have noticed
network performance (or server disc I/O performance)
can do this. We are on a SAN and during peak load
periods a jar download can be interupted or slowed.
There is a dependency chain of jar files
in the startup and if a required jar was held up
in transit, a jar that depends on it will will not
execute properly.

Subject: [IUG] Release 2007 and Freezing

Hi all,

We are a consortium with 80 libraries. At the end of October we
upgraded to Release 2007. We have several libraries experiencing
individual PCs freezing that are running Millennium Circ. The user may
try to log on again several times before they are successful. Usually
the jar files just stop loading (if you look at what is loading in the
JAVA log, the point where it stops is not consistent).

Additionally one of our libraries is having a problem with PCs that are
running Millennium Circ over thin client (Microsoft 2003 Terminal
Server).
This library experiences PCs freezing multiple times during the day.
Then when users try to log onto the system again, it may take several
tries. Typically, as the JAR files load, there is either an error, or
the files just stop loading (again the JAVA log stops at different
inconsistent points during the load).

Is anyone else having this or similar problems?

Any suggestions?

Sandy
