Re: [IUG] Problem with implementing self return

Hi Emma - I think this is to do with the self checkin settings described
on Page # 105283 of the User Manual - sounds like you have "do not check
in problem items" selected. That's a change the helpdesk can make for
you.

Please note - if you are using "Streamlined Checkin" at your staffed
workstations, this functionality is not available via selfcheckin.

Good luck in getting your customers to do as you plan :-) Sarah

Dear all,

We have got a problem with implementing self return on our 3M v series
machines and I was wondering if any of you had encountered a similar
problem?

* If we return a book which is not overdue, has no fines on it, no
messages and is not reserved for anyone else we are able to use the 3M
self check unit to return the item.

* If we try to return a book which is overdue, reserved, has fines on
it or messages attached to it then we get a message to say that we can't
return books at the machine and to take the item to the counter.

We would expect to be able to return all items on the machine and then
for the patron to be directed to put the returned item in a book bin if
it is reserved and on a trolley if it is ready to go back on the shelf.

I have got a call in with the helpdesk about this but the discussion
list is normally a useful source of information too.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.

Regards,
Emma
