The duplicate use report is configurable (in the character-based interface), using System Options -- Database options -- heading report (duplicate use fields). 

Just to be clear, if Newsweek is showing up in your duplicate report every time you add a new item, it is because there is some other book or periodical with the same call number in the database, not because you are adding an additional volume to the same record.  Creating the new item just puts the record back through the transaction file, which is when the system checks for duplicates. 

At least that's the way it works in our system. Is it different if the library stores its call numbers in item records?

We include the call numbers in our duplicate reports but we routinely ignore the entries for journals because they are generally earlier/later title situations.

I would like to know if is possible to configure "DUPLICATE call numbers &
other errors" to do not include call numbers for new copies or volumes.

 

In example, we do not want to have a new entry on "DUPLICATE call numbers &
other errors" when we attach a new issue to Newsweek, because we know that
the item is a volume from a periodical.
