[IUG] cdate (catdate) field in order records

Is anyone using this field, and for what purpose? How do you get the data in
the field after the item has been cataloged?

We have been filling in this field since we came up on Innovative, using a
combination of lists and student labor. The reason given to me was that if
we wanted to eventually delete old order records, we would only delete ones
that had a catdate in them to avoid deleting records for items not yet
cataloged. This seems like a lot of labor for a not very compelling reason,
but before I decide to eliminate the  process, I wanted to see if anyone
else has a good use for it.
