Hi Mary,

You need to look at a circulation option to solve this problem. See
page 102190 in the manual, under checkin options. I think adjusting
this setting will solve your problem.

Hope this helps,
Sarah

Subject: [IUG] MilCirc fines and billing

Hello,

We have an issue of sorts regarding our fines and billing. This is what
we want to happen: at 31 days an item goes to a billed status and a
default replacement price of $95.00 ($75.00 & $20.00 processing fee) is
assessed to the patron's account. If the item is returned after 31
days, the replacement price is reduced to a flat $20.00 overdue charge.

In MilCirc we currently have the default replacement price set to
$75.00, the replace process fee set to $0, the replace bill service
charge set to $20.00, and the limit fine to price set to no. The
'Reduce bill to' feature is set to (1) Bill fee, which in theory should
leave the $20.00 charge on the patron's account. However, when the item
is checked in after it is at a billed status, Millennium assesses a
"regular" fine of # days late x $0.25. We want the charge to go from
$95.00 to $20.00.

We have tried various combinations of the values in the item cost,
processing fee and bill service charge fields and cannot get the system
to reduce the charge from $95.00 to $20.00 after 31 days. Does anyone
have any ideas or do you have your system set up to accomplish this
outcome?

Thanks for your help,
