We're "selling" our discards to a company in Denver that cleans them and sells them on Amazon. If I remember correctly we send them 15 skids (300 B&T boxes) at a time and to date we've made maybe $2,000. As a friend of mine who is an Amazon dealer commented "now I know where all the 20 cent books come from."
Perhaps the reason serials have a higher demand is that dealers cut out the ads and sell them at flea markets or on EBay. Amazing what a good condition 1950s ad will sell for.
I can get the information about the company if anyone wants to contact me off list.

If you can justify staff time (intensive), I guess. But my own
sense is that "valuable" is a moveable feast. Frankly, what
you'd realize in income would never cover the cost of the time
of your worst-paid employee.
As the daughter of an antiques appraiser, I know for a fact that
library discards are at the bottom of the heap because of their
property stamps and general wear.
But don't take my word for it. Go to eBay and hunt around and
see what people are asking for $300.00 outdated medical texts.
Five bucks maybe.

Subject: [IUG] OT -- Selling Library Property on Ebay
One of our Librarians thinks we might be able to make a few bucks
selling some of our more valuable discards
from our collection on Ebay. Has anyone else tried something along
these lines and any pointers of things we
should know to do or avoid?
In an earlier life, I worked in Serials and we sold some of our bound
runs to dealers but that was quite a bit
different and many years ago.
Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.
