- Subject: [IUG] New Patrons and Privacy Policy Agreements
My IT manager is looking for a way to systematically require new patrons
to agree to our privacy policy as part of their account creation. I
checked with III and confirmed (as suspected) that no such functionality
exists in the Millennium system that would result in circ staff being
automatically reminded to ask patrons to agree to our privacy policy.
I thought I'd check here as I'm sure we aren't the only library with
this problem (or something similar) - you could be having patrons agree
to some form of terms of use, fines policy, technology policy and/or a
privacy policy.
Has anyone else the need for a feature like this? We are thinking of
requesting an enhancement for a flag or required field or message
reminder (customizable with the message we set) to require patrons to
agree to the policy (at new account creation). Also we'd like for this
functionality to be included in the online patron registration
functionality too (although I can mock it up myself with Javascript
anyhow on the web).
