I use UltraEdit, which also has a built-in SFTP client, for all OPAC file
editing, and have not had any problems like that. AFAIK, it does not by
default change file permissions (though it does have the ability to change
Unix file permissions via the FTP client interface). I also use Jedit for
other editing tasks, but not for WebPAC editing.
