Greetings all,
Our webpac gives patrons the option to suggest a title for purchase. In
order to do that, they have to log in with their name and barcode. When
the request comes into Millennium Acquisitions, the only thing that
displays is the patron's name. Our procedure is that if we purchase the
requested title, we automatically put a hold on it for the requesting
patron, but since the patron barcodes aren't included, we have to go
into Millennium Circulation, enter the name and pull up the patron's
info to place a hold. A few times, we've had requests from patrons whose
name is the same as one or more patrons in the system, which prevents us
from putting in the hold. My question is this: (there are 2, actually)
1. Is there an easier way to do patron requests?
2. Is there a way to get Millennium Acquisitions to display the patron's
barcode as well as their name in the request? (Since it requires a
barcode to log-in and request in the first place, it must at least
gather the information)
I'd welcome any help or advice on how to streamline this process. I've
sort of inherited the old way of doing it and I'd love to hear better
ways.
