GCPL is using Unique and after our 90-day trial we sent about 3,000 old
collection agency patrons to Unique as part of our clean up.
Yesterday we had a patron return 20 books which had been checked out in
2004 and had been withdrawn so they couldn't be checked in and our circ
clerks don't have the capability to reattach item records etc.
I had the clerk waive the fines and give the items to the branch head to
see if we still wanted them, but in retrospect I think that this was a
costly decision since Unique will see the waives as money and not
returned material.
Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion as to how to handle this in the
future?
