Alex, this comes down to an indexing question. You need to take a look
at your indexing table for this.

Do you have a separate local call number index? Or are all fields in
the "c" tag group automatically indexed in the LC call number index?

In our situation (a legacy system about 12 years old), 050 and 090
fields are indexed in call number, and 099 fields and non-marc "c"
fields (used for textual and non-LC format "call numbers") are indexed
in local call number. The call numbers are still hyperlinked, but the
textual ones point to the local index rather than the LC call number
index. Also, this keeps the local/textual call numbers out of our single
SCAT table, which only looks at the LC call number index.

I don't know of a way to turn off the hyperlinking, because that's a
function of these being indexed fields. You might be able to do
something with css to override the underline, but the hyperlink will
still be there. Having local call numbers not indexed anywhere just to
get a pretty display would be pretty drastic, and I think you'd end up
regretting it.

Subject: [IUG] Hyper-linked call numbers

Hi,
We have some temporary Course Reserve items which do not receive call
numbers. We want to give them a call number with the professors name or
'Online.' We've played around with putting the call number in various
places (bib record, item record, MARC Call, Local Call) but no matter
what we do we can't seem to find a way to get the call numbers to NOT be
hyperlinks taking you into a browse situation. We would also prefer
that these call numbers did not show up in a regular LC Call Number
browse. Sorry if this is something simple, but I'm a web guy, not a
Millennium guy.
