I would say this is probably due to your customized srchhelp_X.html page missing something which is included in the current defaults, or provided by a token which you are not using (instead hardcoding it).
As a quick check, it works fine on our site
http://ustlib.ust.hk/search/X?NOSRCH=hongkong&SORT=D&SUBKEY=hongkong
but when I replaced our version on our staging port with your version, that problem showed up for us as well.
So I would recommend grabbing a fresh copy of the file from III (or grab our source) and modify it from there to rematch what you want it to look like.
